My name is Brenda Kress and I have been ordained through the Universal Life Church since 2005. Having officiated at numerous weddings, in 2024 I became a certified Funeral & Other Rites of Passage through Global Ministries University because my deepest desire is to be of service to those going through the most sacred times in life.

I've been a hospice volunteer for many years and also currently work at East Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary. Both of these have given me experience in being with those facing some of the hardest times of their life.

My Story

Since I was young, I've always had the pull to help those who are in need of someone to lean on. Whether it was lending an ear or holding a hand, this was all a comfortable space for me. As I grew up, I began my career working with nonprofits to help strengthen their organizations through good administrative support and training mindful leaders.

Now, where I am in life, I want to be of service and assist those who are going through life's big opportunities (marriage) and challenges (navigating ones death or a death of a loved one). To be able to hold compassionate presence is a very sacred service.

I would be honored to be your wedding officiant or funeral celebrant!

Brenda officiated our wedding and she was spectacular! My husband I were completely lost on what we wanted for the ceremony, but Brenda asked us the right questions to figure it out. We ended up doing a handfasting, and had our guests do a ring warming. It was such a special touch, and a wonderful way to bring old and new wedding traditions to a non religious ceremony. When my Mother-in-law passed away, we asked Brenda to officiate a memorial service here at our home. We trusted her ability to hold sacred space for people from all walks of life during a time of grief. Brenda did not disappoint. She carried a calm, soothing authority as she stayed attentive to the needs of the group. She shred a wonderful sense of sacred passage through death, even as she honored our grief. Because of her wisdom and presence all were comforted and fulfilled by the service.
